2010 - 365 Poems

My Year as a Poet by The Crafty Scribe

This is an experiment to write a poem or a short verse a day, and post it to this blog.

I'm not a trained poet, just an enthusiastic scribe wanting to create something new each day. I don't truly know my stanza from my meter, but I hope to improve and get my poetic license someday! Expect the weird, the strange and the inner workings of the Crafty Scribe's mind.

Please pass on the blog address to all your verse and lyrical loving friends. I hope you will join me, and read my daily scribbling.

"Mute Moment" (Entry 191)

What turns to mute
  On distant lies.
The fallow walk
  On high moon rise.
An unmarked vein slashed
  But naught pours out.
Left aeon ‘gain unspoken
  A world, praise devout.

"Exam-tied" (Entry 189)

Country wide.
Revision eyed.
Brain fried.
Ride the tide.
Thought cried.
Notes guide.
Mind hide.
Heart sighed.
Answers denied?
Bright side.
Solve and decide.
Task applied.
Memory provide.
Pen glide.
In a stride.
Best tried.
Over - survived!
Grade supplied.
End in pride.

"Broken Heart" (Entry 163)

I wish I could mend a broken heart
With sticky tape and glue.
Hold it together with ribbon and string.
To cherish it as new.

"Sand" (Entry 156)

Sand in your ears.
Sand 'tween the toes.
Only you know where the sand goes.
Sand on the beaches.
Sand near the shore.
Sand and the sea, it's what I adore!

"Voting Day" (Entry 126)

Add your cross,
Make your choice,
In the small box,
You have a voice.
Every vote matters,
In this election,
Pompous egos will shatter,
Create new direction.
Make your mark, have your way.
Go to the ballot, it’s Voting Day!

A Historic Day! Good luck to al those voting, and all those standing.

"Toast the Host - The Wry Stephen Fry" (Entry 101)

Why, oh why, oh why,
Can’t I speak like Stephen Fry?
Eloquent, droll and urbane,
Effortlessly able to entertain.
Fluent in knowledge and repartee.
Proficient in badinage - the consummate emcee.
Quips aplenty ready to supply,
The perfect host for QI.

"Inhabit the Impossible" (Entry 93)

Take me to another place,
A world beyond my own space.
Eons to love and live and fly.
I’ll travel to Riva upon Greldik’s ship,
Stand in The Citadel, before I slip,
Across time and cosmos in a small blue box,
A place of multi-dimensional shocks.
Until I reach a desert tomb,
To assist in The Mummy’s exhume.
Tour The Sandman’s world of things unseen.
Be taught the magicks by Constantine.
Indy’s the prof’ who’s most able,
To separate fact from fable.
Have adventures with Stephen Brown.
Grab a bite - maybe a stake - in a Vampire’s Town.
Take a Trek across the stars.
Sci-fi and fantasy are best by far.
Scenes of amazing creation.
Escape into your imagination.
